Refuting Mistakes is a Pointless Waste of Time and Resources [?]

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful…

Distinguished senior Islamic scholar and long standing member of the Permanent Committee for Fatwa in Saudi Arabia, Shaykh Saalih al-Fowzaan (may Allah preserve him), was asked:

“Some people say that refuting the people of desires and innovation is a waste of time, having no benefit for the common people. Is this true?”

He responded by saying:

The one who spoke with those words is the one who is wasted. Clarifying the Truth is actually returning (people) to the Truth and what is correct, gathering the Ummah upon the Truth and correctness, and warning them from splitting and losing themselves (in misguidance). This is what sincere advice is all about.

The lecture was entitled: “As-Salafiyyah: Haqeeqatuhaa wa Seemaa’uhaa.” The lecture was later transcribed and published as a booklet with the same title. (See p.40)
