Case Studies in Plagiarism: Yusuf Estes and Academic Fraud

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful…

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) said:

المتشبع بما لم يعط كلابس ثوبي زور

“The one who tries to enjoy [the outward image of] what he has not been given is like someone who wears two garments of falsehood.” [Bukhari & Muslim]

Previously, issues related to the academic dishonesty of the controversial American preacher Yusuf Estes were introduced. His use of deception in media to lie to millions of people was recently exposed [click here], as well as his theft of the writing of another author, claiming it for his own. [click here]

In order to assist those searching for some kind of explanation for such blatant lying and trickery, those who might like to believe that there was just one isolated case of plagiarism, we will now provide clear documentation of a number of acts of plagiarism committed by Yusuf Estes. These case studies show that the one case of plagiarism documented previously was not an isolated incident by any means, rather just one case of many. The cases, one after the next, indicate an intended method of ongoing plagiarism.

Yes, it IS a steal from my article on Professor Francis Boyle’s visit from government authorities who sought to have him inform on his clients. Paragraph after paragraph is identical. You are right to try to put an end to this kind of theft.

A 2001 article published by TROID on the Islamic ruling on Halloween is stolen and published as Yusuf Estes’ own work on his IslamNewsRoom website. 1. Now this man is a serious fraud. He builds a reputation for himself as an author by stealing other people’s articles?! What can his fans and supports say about this? It blows my mind how far people will go to defend this liar!!! This is not Islam!

People was like “Maybe he’s ignorant and makes lots of mistakes, but at least he’s sincere!” Thats really a guess anyway cause we don’t know whats in his heart. But some pretty clear signs are showing up now that the sincerity excuse doesn’t hold a lot of water. And Allah knows what our chests hide.
