Yusuf Estes: No Sexual Intercourse in Paradise!

In the Name of Allah…

From the remnants of controversial preacher Yusuf Estes’ Christian background is likely something which interferes with his ability to accept certain clear Islamic concepts about sexual intercourse being one of the joys awaiting the inhabitants of Paradise.

In other articles, we have shown how Yusuf Estes has maligned upright Muslim men who are motivated by Allah’s descriptions of the beautiful women of Paradise. In his recent writings on the topic, he confirms that he was indeed speaking about Muslims when he criticized people who think about the beautiful virgin hoor ‘een (maidens) in Paradise as people with a “tabloid mentality” who like to look at pictures of naked women!  [Click here]

In his latest writings on the topic, Yusuf Estes states about the hoor ‘een (virgin maidens) of Paradise:

The fact they are perpetual and have never been touched by “jinn or men” in a sexual way, is proof enough this is not all about sexual relations…

He goes on to say:

…The goal of the Muslims is not to go to jennah (paradise) for girls or sex.

Later in the same article, he says:

…The body of the Paradise is not the body of this world. Everything is perfect. The women do not have monthly cycles, nor do they go to the bathroom or any of the things for relief as we know it here. This helps us to understand there would not be physical relations as we know them here. The evil thoughts and lust are not a part of the Paradise. Only pure and good things are there.

For those people whose minds are engrossed in the filth and folly of this life, naturally they will try to compare what we know about the Jennah to their own sick, dirty and unfulfilled world. When they try to compare what they know to what Allah has in store for the people of Paradise, they will never comprehend even the smallest beauty there. Leave these people and their thinking and come to the correct thinking of the true believers in Allah.

After all, the goal of every real believer in Allah, is not to find a hot babes in hot tubs. It is to be close to the other people of Paradise…

In other videos (like this one) on Huda TV and elsewhere, Yusuf Estes began laying down foundations which lead to this conclusion – outright denial of sexual relations in Paradise.

In another lecture, sitting side-by-side with Salim Morgan, Yusuf Estes states:

When it describes the beauty, and talks about the relationships, it’s also clear if you read it, that the virgins in Paradise are pure. Do you know what pure, in the sense of virgin, do you understand what that means? They’re virgin. And the way it was presented, as far as I understood, this was in perpetuity. So, get your mind out of the gutter. They stay that way. Oh! Oh! What did you think it meant?

Important Commentary:

Allah, the Most Generous, has promised His believing servants many different rewards in His expansive gardens of Paradise. Aside from the greatest joy of all, looking at our Magnificent Creator, the residents of Paradise will indulge in various foods and drinks, to the large homes, rivers of pure water, honey, milk, and wine, to the beautiful virgin girls awaiting the personal enjoyment of the righteous men of Paradise.

Christian Influence

According to both modern and ancient Christian misconceptions revolving around the “dirty” and “disgraceful” nature of legal sexual intercourse, they believe that it is not the ambition of an upright person. Based on this, they exonerate their religious leaders above such a lowly concept in this life, and they reject the ”repulsive” concept of sexual pleasures in Paradise. In the Hereafter, they deny any type of sexual intercourse, claiming that Paradise is a “pure place” above such animalistic notions. Yusuf Estes seems to be borrowing some ideas from his old religion, after failing miserable to learn anything substantial about Islam.

Islam Recognizes Human Nature

Islam, on the other hand, is balanced. Our Lord has created us with instincts and inclinations. He has not forbidden people from enjoying themselves in legal intercourse with their spouses in this life, nor has He attached any blame to them for that. He has forbidden harmful acts of transgression, like fornication, adultery, and homosexuality, yet He has allowed even the most pious of His servants to indulge in sexual intercourse with their spouses, with no harm or blame associated with that.

In the Hereafter, Allah has prepared gardens of delight, with sexual partners waiting for the believers. Women will enjoy the very best and most pleasing acts of sexual intercourse with their handsomely attractive husbands, at the peak of their youth and vigor. Men will enjoy their wives from this life, at the peak of their youth and beauty as well, in addition to the many voluptuous hoor ‘een (pure virgins) awaiting them.

The repeated pleasures of sexual intercourse in Paradise is not a “filthy idea” or a “tabloid” concept, nor is to be mocked or ridiculed, as the non-Muslims may often do. Allah, the Most Wise, calls the believers to Paradise by mentioning descriptions of the beautiful women awaiting them in Paradise. The belief in ongoing, continuous acts of absolutely joyful sexual intercourse in Paradise is something that the entire body of Muslims (scholars and laymen) have always held as unquestionable.

Authentic Texts on the Topic

There are many Prophetic narrations, brought to us from a number of Companions, that clearly and unequivocally affirm the concept of sexual intercourse in Paradise. The following collection of hadeeths and narrations of the Companions and early scholars of Islam proves this fact with abundant clarity.

The Hadeeth of Anas

Anas ibn Maalik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) said:

يُعْطَى المُؤْمِنُ فِي الجَنَّةِ قُوَّةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا مِنَ الجِمَاعِ

“A believer in Paradise will be given the stamina to have sexual intercourse such-and-such (number of times).”

Anas said, “O Messenger of Allah! (How) will he have the ability to do so?”

He replied:

يُعْطَى قُوَّةَ مِائَةٍ

“He will be given the stamina of one hundred (men).”

Source: It was collected by at-Tirmithee (#2536) and others. At-Tirmithee authenticated it, as did Ibn al-Qayyim in Haadee al-Arwaah (p.232) and Al-Albaanee. At-Tirmithee entitled the chapter: “What Has Been Reported About the Sexual Intercourse of the People in Paradise.”

The Hadeeth of Zayd ibn Arqam

Zayd ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a Jew came to the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) and said, “O Abal-Qaasim! Don’t you presume that the people of Paradise shall eat and drink there?!”

He replied:

“Nay, (I swear) by the One in whose Hand is my soul! Surely, one of them will have the stamina of a hundred men with regards to eating, drinking, desires, and sexual intercourse.”

Source: It was collected by Ahmad (4/367, 371) and others with an authentic chain. Ibn al-Qayyim authenticated it in Haadee al-Arwaah (p.187), as did Al-Albaanee in Saheeh at-Targheeb (#3739).

The Hadeeth of Aboo Hurayrah

Aboo Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace), “O Messenger of Allah! Are we going to approach our wives (for sex) in Paradise?”

He replied:

إِي وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُفْضِي فِي الْغَدَاةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ إِلَى مِائَةِ عَذْرَاءَ

“Yes, (I swear) by the One in whose Hand is my soul! Surely a man will approach one hundred virgins in a single afternoon!”

Source: It was collected by at-Tabaraanee in al-Mu’jam al-Awsat (#718). ad-Dhiyaa’ al-Maqdisee authenticated it according to the standards of Muslim, as quoted in It-haaf al-Jamaa’ah (3/268) of at-Tuwayjiree.

Some scholars mention that this narration is more correctly attributed to Ibn ‘Abbaas, not Aboo Hurayrah. Refer to al-‘Ilal al-Waaridah of ad-Daaraqutnee (10/30).

In another version of Aboo Hurayrah’s narration:

نَعَمْ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ دَحْماً دَحْماً؛ فَإِذَا قَامَ عَنْهَا رَجَعَتْ مُطَهَّرَةً بِكْرًا

“Yes, (I swear) by the One in whose Hand is my soul, orgasm after orgasm; and when he gets up, she returns to being a pure virgin.”

Source: This version was authenticated by al-Albaanee in Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah (#3351).

More similar narrations on the topic are collected and discussed in the following article: From the Joys of Paradise: Sexual Intercourse.

Tafseer of a Quranic Verse

The scholars of Tafseer (Quranic Exegesis), beginning with the Companions, like ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Abbaas and ‘Abdullaah ibn Mas’ood, and the Taabi’oon and later scholars, the likes of Sa’eed ibn al-Musayyab, ‘Ikrimah, al-Hasan al-Basree, Qataadah, and many others, have explained the following Verse:

إِنَّ أَصْحابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ فِي شُغُلٍ فاكِهُونَ

( Verily, the people of Paradise that Day shall be occupied/busy, rejoicing ) [36:55]

They said: “Occupied/busy with taking the virginity of virgins (through sexual intercourse).”

Source: Tafseer Ibn Katheer (36:55).

The Four Imams Agreed

The four well-known imams – Aboo Haneefah, Maalik, ash-Shaafi’ee, and Ahmad (may Allah have Mercy on all of them) – all held the position that the people of Paradise will enjoy sexual intercourse from the many joys of Paradise.

Source: Manaazil al-A’immat al-Arba’ah (p.126) of al-Waa’ith Aboo Zakariyyaa as-Salamaasee (d.550). (Note: This book was one of the first books ever written to identify the points of belief agreed upon by the four imams.)

Total Scholarly Consensus

The entire body of the scholars of the Salaf unanimously agreed that the people of Paradise will indulge in sexual intercourse. In fact, some of the scholars declared a person who would reject any one of the textually established pleasures of Paradise to be a disbeliever.

Al-Waa’ith as-Salamaasee (d.550) said:

فمن خالف شيئاً من هذا فقد خرج عن الإسلام بخلافه القرآن والسنة والإجماع

“Anyone who opposes any of these things [from them: sexual intercourse in Paradise] has left Islam, due to his contradiction to the Quran, the Sunnah, and scholarly consensus.”

Source: His book, Manaazil al-A’immat al-Arba’ah (p.126).

Phrases of Mockery

Compare this clear understanding – traditional Muslim beliefs based on the Quran and Sunnah – to the way Yusuf Estes chooses to believe. Think about the established Islamic beliefs and compare them to the expressions chosen by Yusuf Estes to introduce the topic of the beautiful virgin maidens in Paradise:

  • “The 70 dancing women or whatever” [click here]
  • “72 hoochie-coochie girls” [click here]
  • “Hot babes in hot tubs” [in the title and content of the article quoted above]
  • “A honkey-tonk with a bunch of dressed up ladies” [click here]

These are sarcastic expressions of mockery. When confronted with the ridicule of the disbelievers, Muslims are to take honor in their Religion and reply how Salmaan al-Faarisee (may Allah be pleased with him) responded to the Jews when they said to him, “Has your Prophet taught you how to use the bathroom?!”  He said, “Ajal! (That’s right!) Indeed, he forbade us from facing the qiblah (direction of the Ka’bah) when relieving oneself, using our right hands to clean ourselves, wiping with less than three wipes, or wiping with dung or bones!” [Saheeh Muslim #262]

So if disbelievers or ignorant Muslims choose to mock aspects of our Religion, the virgin maidens of Paradise or anything else, we say to them:

AJAL! That’s right!

And we take honor in what Allah and His Messenger have taught us! No shame, no shyness, no philosophy, and no rhetoric.

And Allah knows best.

Muslims should once again realize that they have an important choice in front of them in yet another issue – to continue following Yusuf Estes and his train wreck of a mission, opposing the established ijmaa’ (scholarly consensus) on a number of issues, or to side with the Muslims and reject these deviant teachings.

    • While it is most probably correct to say that the people of Paradise will have children (conceived and born in Paradise), based on a seemingly authentic hadeeth collected by at-Tirmithee (#2563), mentioning that if a man wants children, the pregnancy, birth, and growth will all occur within an hour, just as he wishes. Imam at-Tirmithee called the hadeeth “hasan ghareeb”, and mentioned that some of the imams of the early scholars said there shall be no children born in Paradise, relying on another hadeeth that comes with a weak chain of narration. While it seems correct to say that there will be pregnancy and birth in Paradise (and Allah knows best), it is not an issue that should be a point of contention in our discussions of the errors of Yusuf Estes, and Allah knows best.

      • Dear brother,
If sheikh Yusuf did something wrong why don’t you contact him privately and tell him what he did instead of post his fauls?

      • Dear Islam, May Allah bless you for taking the time to comment. That’s what Muslims do when someone errs or sins in private, he is advised privately. However, When someone misrepresents Islam publicly (intentionally or unintentionally), the Religion of Islam requires us to correct the mistake openly, and not allow errors to confuse and mislead the people. For more explanation of this very important Islamic principle: please take the time to read this.
